The Rock 2-Day Trail Run Stage Race is a new addition to the weekend’s activities.

28 Sept: Day 1 Rhebokskloof – Spice Route: 21km – 568 elevation

29 Sept: Day 2 Spice Route – Rhebokskloof: 18.5km – 720m elevation

Paarl mountain is a haven for trail runners and route designer Darren Herbst has included stunning trails, the best views and ample challenging terrain for serious trail runners.

Day 1 is a mild introduction to the mountain and stays on the lower slopes, traversing the mountain anti-clock-wise on beautifully sculpted trails that run through various vineyards, orchards and even a stud farm.
It includes cliff-face running with views all the way to Table Mountain and Franschoek before dropping down to finish at Spice Route Destination next to the N1.

Day 2 is an up-and-over, as locals refer to it. The trail accesses the Paarl Reserve via wonderful trails through Spice Route, Diamant and the Taal Monument. It then follows the reserve road with beautiful views over the Paarl Valley for most of the way before kicking up to the Water Tower and then providing a final 7km downhill to Rhebokskloof.
Day 2 is hard work up to the 11km mark, but then the rewards come is various forms on the Rhebokskloof trails.

The 10km and 5km fun runs at Rhebokskloof are suited the whole family and a nice option for the not-so-serious runners to do while they wait for friends and family who take part in the stage race.
